When you start loving what you create, you make space for your creativity to not just show up, but to thrive.
When I speak to my clients who are writers, creatives, and biz owners, those who need to use their words to build their businesses, one thing stands out, often.
But Cass, even when I feel tired, I still think I should sit down and write. But… I also don’t think I can go on like this, because it’s exhausting.
There’s a big difference between sitting down to do the work because you want to push through resistance, and sitting down to do the work because you think you should push through fatigue.
Sometimes they feel the same, look the same, and sound the same.
But they’re very different, and they mean very different things.
The resistance sounds like this…
But I don’t know what to write, or how to say it, or if the structure is right. I don’t know if I’m on the right track.
When what it really means is…
I don’t think I’m good enough, I don’t think my work is good enough. I just won’t do it, to be on the safe side.
The fatigue sounds like this…
But I don’t know what to write, or how to say it, or if the structure is right. I don’t know if I’m on the right track.
When what it really means is…
I am so tired, I’ve been pushing through so much, for so long. I’m feeling grumpy, restless and resentful. My mind is clouded and my brain is foggy and I’m too tired to even think about what to say, or how to say it. #sendhelp.
They might sound the same, but see how their meaning is different?
We will each have our own signs, pointing us in the direction of resistance (fear) or fatigue (pushing).
We also each have the capacity and the courage to acknowledge the difference, and to dish out the self-love accordingly.
The resistance needs you to say…
Please, sit down and do the work. You’ll figure out what to say, how to say it, and how to structure it as you go along. You’re on the right track, you just need to do the work. You’ll be better for it.
The fatigue needs you to say…
Please take a break, for as long as you need. Your work and your creativity will still be here when you get back. Your writing will be stronger, your voice will be crystal clear and your mind will be sharp. You’ll be better for it.
Allow your creativity to breathe
It’ll be stronger (and more in flow) for the space you give it.
You’ll be stronger (and more in flow) for the space you give it.
Your work will be stronger (and more from flow) for the space you give it.
It’s time to find your voice, and use it.
It’s time to build your business with words and heart, with ease and flow.
It’s time to love what you create.
