Perfectionism pieces I’m moving through

When perfectionism holds me back, sometimes, for a few moments, I don’t even realise.

What I sense is that I feel locked into step with something that feels crunchy, far away from myself, out of reach.

But sometimes I don’t realise it’s ‘perfectionism’, because along the way, I’ve changed the details of what perfectionism looks like for me. It doesn’t feel how it used to, and so sometimes, I skip past it without awareness.

It used to look like not knowing how or where to start.

Then it looked like not knowing how to move through the messy middle.

Then it morphed again, and became a tinkering with the details, right before launch.

But now, now I move through those phases with ease, joy and glee.

It’s what happens after that needs some TLBC (like Tender Loving Care but Tender Loving Belief Care).

It’s once I’ve released it, or ‘shipped it’ as entrepreneur and author Seth Godin says, that I must lovingly tend to my emotions, thoughts, beliefs, energy and actions.

It’s in the ‘Should I fix it up’ that I must remind myself that it’s enough, as it is.

It’s in the ‘Does the sales page need more copy?’ that I get to soothe the doubt with enoughness.

It’s in the ‘Are the graphics enticing enough? Is the sales funnel funnelling? Are the words wording enough? Is the energy energising enough?’ that I get to shake, shake, shake it off, call it what it is (perfectionism with her prettiest shoes on), and decide to send it love, make it smaller, and brighten the bigness of my enoughness.

Through my words, my energy, my emotions, my actions, thoughts, beliefs and habits, this gets done and moved through all parts of myself. Through my own work, I work my process.

And my process creates progress, which is always, always better than perfectionism.

Process creates progress which creates power.

And power can be present without the perfect sales page, funnel or system. In fact, power is magnified in the absence of perfectionism.

Like giving oxygen to fire, power without perfectionism has space and fuel to breathe, rise and grow.

It’s a thought habit to shift—the is it enough—and like all habits, it’s the consistent little steps that add up to longterm shifts and sustainable change.

I’ve noticed it recently with a big project I’ve been undertaking, that’s asking me to look with crystal clarity at where my beliefs are limiting my energy, my capacity, and my results, and where I need to truly pour more expansive and intentional energetic and belief work onto my own path.

For my peace and growth, perfectionism can’t guide my next steps.

It can try (and sweet thing, it probably will), but for what I desire, I need something else. Something bigger. Something that can hold me the way perfectionism can’t.

Being ‘held back’ by anything we’re self-creating, is self-protecting. The part of you creating the perfectionism wants the very, very best for you. So does the part of you who’s on the other side of that pretty wall.

And that’s the side I’m working from.

So when my perfectionism tries to holds me back now, I hold it in my heart. I look into its eyes, hold its hands, and say to it ‘I love you. I see you. I thank you. I get to release you now. I choose to release you now. I release you now.’

You see, perfectionism doesn’t create my results. My enoughness does.

And then I take a deep breath (because I can breathe more deeply now), and I go on my way, wherever my enoughness guides me to go next.

I’m trying to think of a block you couldn’t shift with this much support, an intention you couldn’t align with, a next level you couldn’t bring into the now, and I’m coming up blank. 😉

Which means on the flip side, the depth of support in this space is pure power. ❤️‍🔥
