Consistent $Xk months’ are sold to us like the dream.
But there is almost nothing consistent about entrepreneurship.
And… that’s kind of the point.
You get to choose what you do, when you do it, and how you do it, and that actually means your income might never look the same month to month. This is a great thing.
If you wanted a set income each month, you’d get a job. Perfect! (Or maybe you have one. Perfect!)
But if you want to grow your biz, you better make friends with uncertainty… and not make it (or your thoughts about it) a problem.
I’ve been in biz for 12 years this month (and I was a freelance makeup artist before that) and I’ve LITERALLY NEVER NOT ONCE EVER earned the exact same amount of money in two different months.
It’s just not a thing for most entrepreneurs, even if you have recurring monthly income streams set up. (Which I do.)
So please don’t aspire to ‘consistent’ months. They don’t really exist and chasing them is probably stressing you out.
Instead, move towards the energy of consistency in what you love to do, in how you’re doing it, and in the deeper purpose of your work.
Create programs and offerings that you want to tell people about, because of how much you love them, and how helpful you believe them to be.
Set up your biz in a way that you can earn a healthy income by doing work you love, with people you love, even if you don’t have a lot of free time each week.
It’s possible to create a healthier income in your biz, without chasing ‘consistent’ months. If you get them, great!
But if you don’t, you’re not doing it wrong, I promise you.
It’s also possible to increase your income without chasing a capitalist notion of the race to the top. Sometimes, you just need to earn more money in less time because of life (like mum life, or working part-time, or… because you want to) and this is possible and available to you too.
Come do this work with me in Start to Scale; the work of mapping out the work you want to share, alongside the beliefs to hold/radiate space to larger groups of clients, so you can increase your biz income while working less hours.
Love,
